How to Win the Custody Battle

Got an insane ex who is trying to turn your child against you? Then check out this book–it is the TRUE STORY of a family who defeated the efforts of a psychotic ex-wife/mother whose Munchhausen’s by Proxy had her dragging a child in and out of hospitals  in order to spite her ex-husband. This child’s story made me weep.
But [...]

Abandoned Babies

My heart breaks whenever I read about the abandoning of tiny babies who are born alive after failed ”induced birth abortions,” then left in a closet or disposal receptacle to die all alone with no medical care; abandoned and alone until they pass away, thereby completing the abortion process.
Even scarier: Barack Obama has voted repeatedly against an act that would help these babies [...]

The DISH on Fatty School Lunches

My 8 year old Daughter: “Daddy, why do you have a pink razor? Pink is for girls?”
Husband: “I don’t! My razor is black. The pink razor is your mom’s.”
Daughter: ”Mommy, why do YOU have a razor? You don’t shave!”
Wow–I never realized that she had no idea why I own [...]

Deceptively Delicious Muffins

This morning for a quick breakfast my children enjoyed these delicious peanut butter banana muffins.  I got the recipe from the book Deceptively Delicious: Simple Secrets to Get Your Kids Eating Good Food.
These muffins had cauliflower hidden in the batter.  Here is how it works:
First, you steam up some cauliflower; then you puree it in a blender::

The recipe [...]

Discriminating Against Large Families

Yesterday my sister gave birth to her fifth child.
I was so excited that I sent out e-mails and text messages announcing the birth.  But then I received a very disappointing response from a dear friend in New York.  She wrote: “Wow–is this her last one?”  No congratulations, no well-wishing; just the usual “wow, I can’t believe [...]
